2014 NFL Draft day 3 results: Bears select punter Pat O’Donnell, who killed the combine
The punter who benched more than Jadeveon Clowney was drafted by the Bears in the sixth round.

Teams often look to fill specific voids in the later rounds of the draft. In the sixth round on Saturday, the Chicago Bears drafted Pat O'Donnell, the first punter to be taken in the 2014 NFL Draft.
O’Donnell was terrific with the Miami Hurricanes, setting a new school record with an average of 47.1 yards per punt last season. He also handled the team’s extra-point duties.
O'Donnell became a national name with a very impressive showing at the combine. He ran a speedy 4.62 40-yard dash officially, the fastest time for a punter since 2009. His unofficial first time was even better at 4.53 seconds. He benched 225 pounds 23 times -- that was more than No. 1 pick Jadeveon Clowney (21). And at 6'4 and 220 pounds, no one will be seeking O'Donnell out in punt coverage.
