Johnny Manziel, America's most popular backup quarterback, is not in Hollywood this weekend. He's in suburban Cleveland wearing a red practice jersey and being steeped in Browns tradition at the team's rookie minicamp. We've got the blurry cell phone photos to prove it.
Johnny Manziel takes the field as Browns rookie minicamp opens
The media got its first look at Johnny Manziel on the football (practice) field on Saturday. We’ve got the blurry cellphone photos documenting the rookie’s first taste of huddling, stretching and talking with his coaches at the NFL level.

The Cleveland media was there, flip phones at the ready, to document Johnny’s first steps toward wrecking this league. National media was not allowed (in case you missed the bitchy tweets from last week). There was no shortage of press without the national media.

I have a second wristband for post-practice availability. It's a brighter color. #Browns don't want any photos of it for security purposes.
— Tom Withers (@twithersAP) May 17, 2014 Cleveland learned a little something from Hollywood, not wanting to get duped with a fake wristband like the guy who crashed the Oscars with a fake press pass.
Johnny’s wearing No. 2 on his jersey, which was also his number at Texas A&M.
And, yes, this totally passes for excitement in May. Just look at the little red spec in the background here.

Johnny's very 1st huddle. #wreckthisleague. pic.twitter.com/REswUJ7oDi
— Tony Grossi (@TonyGrossi) May 17, 2014 Huddling, talking to coaches, jogging onto the field ... Johnny’s mastering the finer points of NFL football. We’re anxious to get a scouting report about how he’s doing with waiting and work in the meeting rooms.
He’s got excellent stretching technique too. FACT: you can’t wreck a league with pulled muscles.
Looks like they did manage to get to a few other drills on Saturday morning, like handoffs.
And what would Johnny Manziel’s first practice with the Browns be without Jimmy Haslam watching? Either that or he’s getting ready to fire Mike Pettine.
There you have it, flip phone photos from the Browns beat featuring Brian Hoyer’s backup.
NFL coverage in May!
