Josh Gordon working out with Browns, awaiting suspension news

Gordon will participate in OTAs while he waits to hear back on a possible season-long suspension for failing a drug test.

Josh Gordon isn't sure whether he'll be able to play a down of football during the 2014 season, but he'll at least be able to work out with his Cleveland Browns teammates this week. Browns coach Mike Pettine confirmed to Mary Kay Cabot of the Plain Dealer that the Pro Bowl wideout will take part in organized team activities while he awaits word on a potential year-long suspension.

Pettine told Cabot he has not heard anything from the NFL in the wake of Gordon’s failed drug test but that he is expecting a suspension. Gordon tested positive for marijuana, his second violation of the league’s drug policy in the last year. Reports indicate he could be suspended for all 16 games of the 2014 regular season.

Gordon’s agent, Drew Rosenhaus, is currently in the process of appealing the suspension, Cabot reports.

The Browns will host three workout days this week, with an open period for the media on Wednesday. It’s uncertain if Gordon will be made available for interviews at that time.

Despite knowing about the failed drug test, the Browns opted not to take a wide receiver in the NFL Draft. They did sign five undrafted free agents and added veteran wideouts Miles Austin and Earl Bennett.
