Greg Hardy back at Panthers practice following arrest

The Pro Bowl defensive end is on the field for Carolina’s OTAs in the wake of an assault arrest last week.

Sam Sharpe-USA TODAY Sports

Less than a week after Greg Hardy was arrested for allegedly assaulting his ex-girlfriend, the Carolina Panthers defensive end is back with his team. Hardy was on the practice field Monday during the team's organized team activities, the Charlotte Observer reports.

Hardy was ordered by a judge to attend three Alcoholic Anonymous classes a week and to avoid contacting the woman who accused him of, among other things, throwing her onto a bed filled with assault weapons during an incident last week. Hardy, who dialed 911 after the altercation, has maintained his innocence. He has stated it was the woman who attacked he and a friend in his apartment.

Being back at camp is good thing for Hardy’s bank account. The Panthers agreed in late April to forward $1.3 of the $13.1 million franchise tender they owe him if he shows up to all of the team’s voluntary workouts, according to the Observer. The two sides have until July 15 to work out a long-term deal. Carolina’s interest in doing so is unknown in the wake of the arrest and their second-round selection of defensive end Kony Ealy.
