Jeremy Hill expects to play for Bengals

Jeremy Hill doesn’t want to sit during his rookie season with the Bengals. The running back says he has already been taken under the wings of Giovani Bernard and Andy Dalton.

Jeremy Hill won't shy away from competition on the Cincinnati Bengals. Speaking at the 2014 NFLPA Rookie Premiere in Los Angeles, he told SB Nation's Ryan Van Bibber that he expects to play as a rookie in Hue Jackson's offense.

The Bengals already have two capable running backs in Giovani Bernard and BenJarvus Green-Ellis. Bernard, in particular, has many fans excited in Cincinnati after piling up 1,209 total yards and eight touchdowns as a rookie last season. Green-Ellis, on the other hand, showed the wear in his legs. Though he led the Bengals in rushing, his 3.4 yards-per-carry were easily a career low.

If Hill is to see a lot of the field in 2014, it will likely be at the expense of Green-Ellis. At 6’1, 233 pounds, Hill could serve as a bruising complement to the smaller, more versatile and more explosive Bernard. Together, they have the potential to form a young, formidable rushing tandem.

Hill added that he has already been embraced by Bernard, as well as quarterback Andy Dalton. With Green-Ellis still in Cincinnati to act as a veteran presence, Hill could develop quickly to become a key contributor next season.
