The Detroit Lions have selected North Carolina tight end Eric Ebron with the No. 10 overall pick in the 2014 NFL Draft. Ebron was SB Nation's top-ranked tight end and No. 8 overall player on the top 200 big board. He was evaluated higher than other big-name tight ends including Jace Amaro, Austin Seferian-Jenkins and Troy Niklas.

UNC’s Eric Ebron is the first tight end selected in the NFL Draft, going No. 10 overall to the Lions.

Ebron was No. 2 in the nation among tight ends, behind Amaro, with 62 receptions for 973 yards last season at UNC. For his efforts, he was named a second-team AP All-American and a first-team All-ACC performer. He was also named a finalist for the John Mackey Award given every year to a player deemed college football’s best tight end, which went to Seferian-Jenkins this past season.
