NFL Draft results 2014: Ja’Wuan James selected by Dolphins at No. 19

Ja’Wuan James went No. 19 overall to the Miami Dolphins, becoming the fifth offensive tackle selected.

The Miami Dolphins have selected Tennessee offensive tackle Ja'Wuan James with the No. 19 overall pick in the 2014 NFL Draft. James was SB Nation's seventh-ranked offensive tackle and No. 42 overall player on the top 200 big board.

James started all 49 games of his collegiate career with the Volunteers, but never moved from right tackle to the left side of the offensive line due to the emergence of fellow draft prospect Antonio Richardson at the position. Instead, he earned second-team All-SEC honors as a senior while still starting at right tackle.

James didn't have a tremendous showing at the NFL Combine, but it wasn't terrible either. After bolstering his draft stock at the Senior Bowl, the large offensive lineman showed average athleticism and strength, which likely did little to help or hurt him in the months preceding the 2014 NFL Draft.

The Dolphins desperately needed offensive line after Ryan Tannehill suffered a torrent of pressure last season. James has the frame to be a regular starter at either tackle spot.
