2014 NFL Draft: Vikings trade up, take Teddy Bridgewater
Not wanting to let Bridgewater slide to the Texans, Minnesota pulled off a trade with the Seahawks for the last pick of Round 1.

Just when it looked like Teddy Bridgewater would fall out of the first round of the 2014 NFL Draft, the Minnesota Vikings traded up to grab him with the No. 32 overall pick.
That pick originally belonged to the Seattle Seahawks. The Vikings sent them their second round pick (No. 40 overall) and fourth round pick (No. 108) in exchange for the rights to Bridgewater.
Minnesota trading into No. 32 was no coincidence. That was a deliberate move to leapfrog the quarterback-needy Houston Texans, who have the first pick of Round 2. Both the Vikings and Texans passed on quarterbacks at the top of Round 1.
With Bridgewater off the board, expect Houston to take a long look at Derek Carr with the first pick on Friday. Carr and Bridgewater are considered the third- and fourth-best quarterback prospects in this class, depending on which expert you ask. Blake Bortles was the first passer off the board at No. 3 to the Jacksonville Jaguars, and the Cleveland Browns finally halted Johnny Manziel's long slide at No. 22.
