NFL Draft 2014: Tre Mason picked by St. Louis Rams

After leading Auburn to the National Championship game, Mason now looks to take over the NFL.

SB Nation 2014 NFL Draft

After being named a finalist for the Heisman Trophy last year, Auburn running back Tre Mason has now become a member of the St. Louis Rams after being taken 75th overall in the 2014 NFL Draft. Mason came in at No. 89 on SB Nation's top 200 big board, making him sixth among running backs.

Mason was one of the feel-good stories of 2013, coming from out of nowhere along with his team to gain national fame. Mason became a star, amassing 1,816 rushing yards on 5.7 yards per carry and scoring 23 touchdowns in the process. The Tigers used Mason as the primary weapon in their offense, and showed up in the biggest games.

During the SEC championship, Mason put on a show for the ages by setting a record for individual rush yardage with 304 yards along with four touchdowns. Just as impressively, Mason carried the ball an astounding 46 times that afternoon. In the National Championship against Florida State, Mason totaled another 195 yards on 31 rushes and scored on a would-be 37-yard touchdown run.

At 5'10 and 205 pounds, Mason has enough speed to get around the corner, but stout enough to run between the tackles. He projects as an every-down back but will be behind Zac Stacy on the Rams' depth chart.
