Baltimore Ravens running back Ray Rice and his wife Janay are meeting with NFL commissioner Roger Goodell on Tuesday morning to discuss Rice's alleged assault of his then-fiancee at an Atlantic City hotel in February, according to Jeff Zrebiec of the Baltimore Sun. Rice was caught on videotape dragging Janay Palmer out of an elevator after she had been knocked out.

The Ravens running back had his discipline hearing with the NFL commissioner on Tuesday. He brought his wife along with him.
There is no timetable for Goodell to levy his punishment on Rice, which some are speculating could be at least four to six games, per Bart Hubbuch of the New York Post.
Rice has never been in trouble with the NFL before, but this incident was caught on tape and was quite graphic, certainly not helping the former Super Bowl champ. Rice and his wife held a press conference in May to apologize for their actions (yes, both of them apologized), with Rice scheduled to undergo an intervention program after originally facing felony assault charges.

The Ravens rallied to Rice's defense throughout this saga, as teams do. It wasn't just limited to some incredible social media support. Next, the case goes to Roger Goodell, who will decide on a possible suspension from the league.
Too many women get trapped in abusive relationships. For various reasons, practical and economical and emotional and otherwise obvious and easily understood reasons, they're unable to walk away from the asshole who insists on treating them like a draught animal. I try to avoid hot takes, but I hope the commissioner throws the book at Rice. Give him one game for every person forced to suffer as Janay Rice has suffered. Help Ray Rice understand how sorry he should be.
On the field, Rice was a major disappointment last season. Once considered a top back, Rice only averaged 3.1 yards per carry in 2013, totaling a meager 660 yards. Should Rice miss any time, Bernard Pierce is the best candidate to take the starting role. Pierce gained 436 yards and scored twice last year.
