Rob Gronkowski has been cleared to play for the New England Patriots as they're set to open up training camp and will avoid being placed on the PUP list, according to head coach Bill Belichick.
Rob Gronkowski cleared to play, will not be on Patriots PUP list
The New England Patriots got a bit of good news on the Rob Gronkowski injury front.

“He’s been here,” Belichick told reporters Wednesday at Gillette Stadium. “He would be ineligible to (appear on PUP list) because he’s been cleared to play.”
Gronkowski missed nine games in 2014 because of injury, including an ACL tear in Week 14 that sent him to injured reserve. There was concern that the All-Pro tight end would begin the season on the PUP list and miss time, but as it stands he’s well ahead on his recovery and has been cleared for practice.
Gronkowski caught 39 passes for 592 yards and four touchdowns last season in just seven games, as he missed the first six weeks recovering from a forearm injury. Gronk has been a bit injury-prone the past few seasons in the NFL, playing in just 18 games the past two seasons.
