Leave it to the NFL Network to cover the hard news. Following their groundbreaking work on the player concussion issue and massive class action lawsuit, the league-owned television network weighed in on Ray Rice’s two-game suspension handed down by supreme benevolent leader Roger Goodell.
NFL Network praises the league’s ‘iron fist’ for Ray Rice’s suspension
The league’s television network was prepped and ready to deal with Rice’s suspension with a witty script.
Chris Rose called it “the iron fist of the NFL.”
One more time for emphasis: “the iron fist of the NFL.”
Rice's Suspension
Rice is suspended for two games for assaulting his fiancee and dragging her out of an elevator by her hair (and that’s just the part we saw on video). Also, is “iron fist” the best choice of words in this instance?
Fortunately the NFL Network had a expert on the subject in the studio: Shawne Merriman, the former Chargers and Bills linebacker accused of beating up former girlfriend Tila Tequila in 2009 (Merriman wasn't charged in that case. He settled a civil suit out of court with Tequila).
Still no word on when the “iron fist” is going to come down on Colts owner Jim Irsay.
The NFL Network is our favorite state-run media channel.
