Josh Morgan gets community service for assault

Morgan allegedly assaulted a bouncer outside of a DC nightclub.

Newly-minted Chicago Bear and former Washington football player Josh Morgan has agreed to do community service as punishment for an assault charge in April, according to CSN Washington. The charge is a misdemeanor, so if Morgan completes the 32 hours of service within four months, it will be stricken from his record.

The incident happened just days after Morgan signed a new contract with the Bears. He was getting out of a car outside a night club in D.C. when a bouncer says Morgan punched him for looking at the women that Morgan was with.

"I was just standing there and I looked up, and in the blink of an eye he just punched me right in the mouth," Johnson (the bouncer) said. "Instantly my mouth is bleeding profusely, just blood coming out all over my jacket and stuff. I was scared. I didn't know what to do."

Morgan has denied that he did anything wrong.

"I've always been a standup guy in the community, I've always been a standup guy period," Morgan said. "Everybody knows me. Everybody knows how I am. Nothing like this has ever happened to me before. What a coincidence that now I signed with the Chicago Bears, now all of a sudden it happened."

In two years with Washington, Morgan caught 68 passes for 724 yards and two touchdowns. He joins a loaded Bears receiving corps and should be a secondary option in Chicago.
