Cary Williams leaves with apparent hamstring injury vs. Patriots

Philadelphia suffered an injury early with Williams leaving the game.

Bill Streicher-USA TODAY Sports

Philadelphia Eagles cornerback Cary Williams left Friday night's game against the New England Patriots with a hamstring injury and will not return, according to the Eagles. Williams is projected to be a starting corner for Philadelphia opposite of Bradley Fletcher.

Williams, 29, made a huge play early, picking off Tom Brady and returning the theft 77 yards for a touchdown in the first quarter, giving the Eagles a 7-0 lead. However, Williams tweaked a hamstring and could not continue on. He was replaced by Brandon Boykin, a third-year corner out of the University of Georgia.

Last year, Williams came over as a free agent after winning the Super Bowl with the Baltimore Ravens back in 2012. Williams had three interceptions and a sack in 2013, helping the Eagles capture the NFC East title in Chip Kelly's first year as head coach. Williams has not missed a regular season game over the past three seasons.
