The New England Patriots have agreed to trade guard Logan Mankins to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers for a draft pick and tight end Tim Wright, according to Jay Glazer of Fox Sports. The initial report didn't include the draft pick, but it looks like a fourth-round pick, according to Adam Schefter of ESPN.
Logan Mankins traded to Buccaneers for Tim Wright, draft pick
The New England Patriots acquired Tim Wright, an unheralded tight end out of Rutgers, in exchange for six-time Pro Bowler Logan Mankins in a trade with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

The Buccaneers have some serious issues along the offensive line and have been searching for help all offseason. They've been mentioned as potential trade partners with the San Francisco 49ers for right guard Alex Boone. Tampa recently traded for Rishaw Johnson, also a guard, and met with free agent Richie Incognito on Monday.

Buccaneers general manager Jason Licht spoke to the media shortly after the trade was reported, and said that the team feels “very fortunate,” that Logan is a “very good player” and that he’s a “first-hand witness to what he means to the locker room,” as reported by Greg Auman of the Tampa Bay Times. He also suggested that this trade doesn’t rule out the signing of Incognito, as reported by Max Luckan of 98.7 The Fan.
Mankins was a first-round pick by the Patriots in 2005, and has been named to six Pro Bowls and is a five-time All-Pro. He’s made the Pro Bowl in each of his past five seasons, and will instantly bring credibility to the Buccaneers’ offensive line.
Wright is entering his second season in the NFL after catching 54 passes for 571 yards and five touchdowns as a rookie. He’s a relative unknown around the league, especially compared to a player like Mankins, but the Patriots are getting young talent with a potentially high ceiling at a position they value.
