Tharold Simon ejected for throwing a punch in preseason game

A scuffle between Seahawks and Broncos players resulted in an ejection for cornerback Tharold Simon.

Ron Chenoy-USA TODAY Sports

Seattle Seahawks cornerback Tharold Simon was ejected from the team's preseason debut against the Denver Broncos after throwing a punch in a scuffle with tight end Gerell Robinson.

Simon, 23, was a fifth-round draft pick of the team in the 2013 NFL Draft, but did not play during their Super Bowl campaign after a fractured foot sent him to the physically unable to perform list and eventually the injured reserve. A year removed from being drafted, Simon finally got to put on a Seahawks uniform and play on Thursday night, although his debut didn’t go as planned.

At the time of the ejection, the Seahawks led the Broncos 10-7 in the third quarter, but Denver scored shortly thereafter to take a 14-10 lead.

Simon apologized to fans after the game.
