Wide receiver Wes Welker returned to Denver Broncos practice nine days after suffering a concussion and hasn't been ruled out to play this Sunday in the regular season opener, according to Lindsay H. Jones of USA Today Sports.
Wes Welker back at Broncos practice Monday, status for Sunday unclear
It’s not known if Welker will be recovered from his latest concussion in time to suit up against the Colts this weekend, but he took an important step on Monday.

Welker went through individual drills on Monday, but his status is still far from certain -- he has yet to be cleared for contact in practice, much less for the game against the Indianapolis Colts. Nevertheless, it's a good sign for a player who didn't see the practice field at all last week following a concussion in preseason action against the Houston Texans on Aug. 23.
Broncos general manager and executive vice president of football operations John Elway was noncommittal last Saturday when asked by ESPN about Welker’s status.
“One step at a time, still in the process, in (the) protocol,” Elway said. “So, he’ll be out running around Monday and continue through the protocol, take it one day at a time.”
Welker has a concerning history of concussions, having had three in the last 10 months alone. He had two in the span of three weeks last fall, forcing him to miss the Broncos’ last three regular season games.
