Despite the fact that the Houston Texans and Oakland Raiders were both terrible last year and don't figure to be much better this season, it's not surprising that at least one of them was victorious in Week 1. With the Washington football team and the New York Jets as their respective opponents, both games were a coin toss.
Raiders vs. Texans odds 2014: Houston favored to go 2-0
The Houston Texans, the NFL’s worst team last season, is favored to start the season 2-0 with Sunday’s game against the Oakland Raiders.

But the Texans were the team to win, edging out Washington while the Raiders came up short against the Jets. But it’s not the wins and losses that separate these two teams, it’s the fact that one of them -- Oakland -- looked absolutely incapable of doing anything on offense for much of the game.
Through one game, an admittedly small sample size, the Raiders are ranked bottom of the league in passing offense, rushing offense and rushing defense. The Texans didn’t exactly wow anybody with the win over Washington, but the 21st passing offense and 15th rushing offense say they should be favored in this one.
And they are, though not by much. The lines opened at even money, but the Texans quickly became favored. They can be had favored by as much as three points, though some books have them at 2.5 points, according to OddsShark. The over/under opened up at 39.5 points and is still around that.
