The Dallas Cowboys picked up their first win of the season on Sunday afternoon, on the road nonetheless. Tony Romo and Co. visited Music City for a 26-10 win over the Tennessee Titans. The Cowboys defense even pitched in to help, intercepting Titans quarterback Jake Locker twice to help seal it.
Cowboys vs. Titans final score: 3 things we learned in Dallas’ 26-10 win
Solid outings from the Cowboys offensive trio of Tony Romo, Dez Bryant and DeMarco Murray led Dallas to a 26-10 road win over the Tennessee Titans.

Dallas followed a familiar script in this one, milking the Tony Romo to Dez Bryant connection all day long. It’s not like the Jason Garrett has much choice at this point than to lean on his two most talented players, but it was more than enough against Tennessee, especially after cornerback Jason McCourty left in the first half with a groin injury. Bryant finished the game with a touchdown and triple digit yardage.
DeMarco Murray also had a big day for the Cowboys offense. He ran the ball 29 times for 167 yards and a touchdown.
The Titans were haunted by Jake Locker’s up and down play throughout the game. He looked great on a 61-yard touchdown pass to tight end Delanie Walker in the third quarter, but that couldn’t erase another forgettable first half. He threw his second interception of the game on the Titans’ next possession.
Three takeaways from this one ...
1) How long will the Romo-Dez connection be sustainable? Romo’s injury history is well documented, not to mention his other struggles. The bigger concern here is Dallas’ tendency to feed the ball to Bryant in some painful situations, constantly making him go up and get it with defenders smashing him in the process. He hurt his shoulder in the first half, but did manage to get back on the field to finish the game with 10 catches for 103 yards and a touchdown.
2) Rolando McClain is doing football things again. And he’s doing them fairly well, at least he did today. The former Raider and Crimson Tide linebacker, more notable for his trouble off the field, has been Dallas’ best defensive player for two weeks running now. He made this one-handed, tipped ball interception in the second half.
3) Stop pretending Jake Locker is a legitimate starting quarterback. He’s not. This is his fourth season in the league, and you still never know what you’re going to get from him on a weekly basis. He threw a pair of touchdown passes and came away from a Week 1 win over the Chiefs with a 111.4 rating. More impressive was his 66.7 percent completion rate. So what’d he get this week against a woeful Dallas defense? He was 18-for-34 with 234 yards, one touchdown and two interceptions.
