San Diego Chargers running back Ryan Mathews is expected to miss four or five weeks after suffering an MCL sprain in the team's Week 2 victory over the Seattle Seahawks, per Ian Rapoport.
Ryan Mathews could miss 4-5 weeks with MCL sprain, per report
Mathews was carted off the field during the fourth quarter of a Week 2 game against the Seahawks.

Bad news for #Chargers RB Ryan Mathews. Post-MRI, source tells me his MCL sprain could keep him out 4-5 weeks. He hopes for sooner.
— Ian Rapoport (@RapSheet) September 15, 2014 Mathews, 26, was carted off the field on Sunday after suffering the injury early in the fourth quarter and did not return. He finished the game with 31 yards rushing on 11 attempts and two receptions for 26 yards, which pretty closely echoed his totals of 40 yards rushing and 20 yards receiving in Week 1.
A first-round pick in the 2010 NFL Draft, Mathews has struggled with injuries for much of his five seasons in the NFL, but earned a Pro Bowl nod in 2011 and had a career-best 1,255 rushing yards in 2013.
With Mathews out of the lineup, the Chargers are expected to turn to former Colts running back Donald Brown to take the workload. Brown signed a three-year deal with the Chargers in March worth $10.5 million and had 21 yards rushing against the Seahawks on Sunday.
Mathews is in the final year of the five-year, $20.5 million contract he signed as a rookie.
