— Darren Urban (@Cardschatter) September 15, 2014 Palmer, 34, began experiencing issues with his throwing shoulder after the Cardinals' Week 1 matchup with the San Diego Chargers. In that game, he completed 24 of his 37 pass attempts for 304 yards and two touchdowns, and rushed for an additional 29 yards on four carries. Following the game, Palmer was held out of practice and has yet to return to any team activity.
While Palmer is out, the Cardinals will rely on journeyman Drew Stanton under center. Stanton followed head coach Bruce Arians from Indianapolis to Arizona prior to the 2013 season. In Stanton's first start for the Cardinals, he completed 14 of his 29 passes for 167 yards, no touchdowns and no interceptions. Backing up Stanton is rookie quarterback Logan Thomas.
