The #Bears are planning on placing starting CB Charles Tillman (triceps) on season-ending injured reserve, a source said.
— Adam Caplan (@caplannfl) September 15, 2014 Tillman sustained the injury during the third quarter on Sunday night when he got tangled up with a San Francisco 49ers player near the sideline. He appeared to be in considerable pain and was visibly distraught while trainers tended to him on the bench.
A 12-year veteran and two-time Pro Bowl selection, Tillman ranks third in franchise history with 36 career interceptions. He’s also second in the NFL (behind Robert Mathis) with 42 forced fumbles since entering the league as a second-round draft pick in 2003. He has played his entire career with the Bears.
The Bears are already dealing with an injury to Chris Conte in the secondary. Conte suffered a shoulder sprain against the 49ers on Sunday night.
