John Abraham won't be rejoining the Arizona Cardinals after all. Three days after the linebacker failed a concussion test, the team has placed him on injured reserve, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter.
John Abraham placed on IR by Cardinals
The legendary pass rusher’s career could be over after a serious concussion.

It could mean the end of a legendary career. The 36-year-old Abraham took a leave of absence and reportedly contemplated retirement the week after he suffered a serious concussion in the season opener against the San Diego Chargers.
Cardinals head coach Bruce Arians said this week that Abraham initially told him “his heart isn’t in the game anymore,” but recently changed his mind and “was more than ready” to play again once he passed protocol.
Passing protocol never happened -- Abraham failed a concussion test on Tuesday. At the time, Arians told Alex Marvez on SiriusXM NFL Radio that Abraham would undergo further testing later in the week. Apparently, those went poorly enough to shut the defensive star down for the remainder of the season.
Abraham is the league’s active career sack leader and ranks in the top 10 in that category all-time.
