Dion Jordan suspended 4 more games

The Dolphins defensive end will now be out a total of six games to start the NFL season.

Having already sat out the first two weeks of the 2014 season, Miami Dolphins defensive end Dion Jordan will serve a new four-game suspension for a violation of the NFL's substance abuse policy, per Armando Salguero of the Miami Herald.

An NFL spokesperson told Salguero that the initial four-game suspension was lifted due to the changes in the league’s new drug policy. However, Jordan has reportedly been served with a new suspension, the details of which are currently unavailable.

“However, Jordan now has been suspended without pay for the next four games of the 2014 NFL season for violating the NFL’s Policy and Program on Substances of Abuse. He will be eligible to return to the Dolphins’ active roster on Monday, October 20 following the team’s October 19 game against the Chicago Bears.”

In addition, Jordan made a statement of his own accepting responsibility for the second suspension:

“I am currently undergoing treatment to address my situation,” Jordan said in a statement. “I am working hard to become a better man and to make better choices in the future. I am especially looking forward to returning to the team. I also want to thank my family, coach Philbin and the Miami Dolphins organization for their support.”

The Dolphins also released a statement expressing their “disappointment” in Jordan’s second suspension.

Since being taken third overall in the 2013 NFL Draft, Jordan has yet to start an NFL game. He played in all 16 games last year for the Dolphins, but registered only two sacks and 19 total tackles.
