The NFC West finished the 2013 season with three double-digit win teams. Two of them, the San Francisco 49ers and Arizona Cardinals, meet on Sunday for the first time this year. If the game is anything like the last meeting between the teams, it might just be the matchup of the week. Arizona and San Francisco went back-and-forth in Week 17 last season with San Francisco pulling out a 23-20 victory late.
How to watch 49ers vs. Cardinals 2014: Live streaming, TV schedule, radio and more
Two of the NFC West’s dark horses duke it out in Phoenix.

Despite a disappointing home loss to the Chicago Bears, the 49ers could move into sole possession of first place in the division with a win over Arizona. San Francisco could also add some needed distance between themselves and the Seattle Seahawks who could drop another game during their Super Bowl XLVIII rematch with the Denver Broncos.
Meanwhile, Arizona has raced out to the front of the NFC West pack with a 2-0 start. More impressive still, the Cardinals have won with starting quarterback Carson Palmer missing their Week 2 rout of the New York Giants. Defeating the 49ers would place the division on notice that the Cardinals will not be also rans in 2014.

Nuts and bolts
Despite turning 31 this past May, 49ers tailback Frank Gore continues to produce. Thus far, he's collected 129 yards on 29 carries, good for a respectable average of 4.4. However, San Francisco has begun to ease in other tailbacks, mainly rookie Carlos Hyde. The former Ohio State Buckeye has averaged 4.5 yards per carry and could be headed for a bigger role against Arizona.
Cardinals tailback Andre Ellington has started his second year off in spectacular fashion in spite a serious foot injury. In two games, he's totaled 144 yards on the ground on only 28 carries, adding 37 more yards in the passing game. While Larry Fitzgerald, with 73 total yards, has been quiet thus far, Michael Floyd has enjoyed considerable success early on. He leads the team with 23 yards per catch.
