The Carolina Panthers will have a depleted backfield heading into Week 4 with injuries to both fullback Mike Tolbert and running back Jonathan Stewart.
Panthers thin at running back after Mike Tolbert, Jonathan Stewart injuries
Carolina hopes to have DeAngelo Williams back for Sunday’s game against the Baltimore Ravens.

Panthers FB Mike Tolbert has hairline fracture in leg; RB Jonathan Stewart has sprained knee.
— Adam Schefter (@AdamSchefter) September 22, 2014 DeAngelo Williams will become the go-to runner for the Panthers against the Baltimore Ravens on Sunday, but even that's not a sure thing. The veteran back has 14 carries for 72 yards on the season so far, averaging a team-high 5.1 yards per carry. However, he missed the last two games for the Panthers despite practicing last week. He was inactive against the Steelers.
Stewart left the game against the Pittsburgh Steelers in the second half. He walked off the field gingerly after being tackled by several players. He’s still a possibility to play on Sunday and will be reevaluated on Friday. Tolbert is expected to be out.
If neither Williams or Stewart is able to play against the Ravens, Fozzy Whitaker and Darrin Reaves are the next backs up on the roster, but even Whitaker has been out with a quad injury. This could suggest a roster move or two to add some depth. Lache Seastrunk is on the team's practice squad.
