The Miami Dolphins have officially named Ryan Tannehill as the starting quarterback heading into Week 4 against the Oakland Raiders, per Jeff Darlington of NFL.com.
Ryan Tannehill will start for Dolphins vs. Raiders
The Dolphins decided to go ahead and name Tannehill the starter after flirting with benching the former first-round pick.

The team had flirted with potentially going with Matt Moore at quarterback instead, when head coach Joe Philbin would not answer a reporter's question as to whether or not Tannehill would remain the starter. Even though offensive coordinator Bill Lazor contradicted Philbin by saying Tannehill was the starter, Philbin refused to admit as much.
The Dolphins have been frustrated over the last two weeks in back-to-back losses to the Buffalo Bills and Kansas City Chiefs. After a convincing opening win over the New England Patriots, the Dolphins have been outscored by 38 points. Much of the frustration has come on the offensive side.
Tannehill has regressed in his first year under Lazor’s tutelage and third overall with the team. After completing a career-high 63 percent of his passes last year, Tannehill is not even completing half of his throws in the new season (48 percent).
The Dolphins selected Tannehill at No. 8 overall in the 2012 NFL Draft.
