Washington defensive lineman Chris Baker will not be suspended for a hit he put on Nick Foles in Sunday's 37-34 loss to the Philadelphia Eagles, as the NFL has determined his hit was legal. Baker blindsided Foles in the fourth quarter, injuring him and inciting a brawl that resulted in Baker's ejection from the game.
Chris Baker won’t be suspended for Nick Foles hit
The NFL won’t be suspending Washington defensive lineman Chris Baker.

“Baker didn’t do anything wrong with that hit,” NFL’s executive vice president of football operations Troy Vincent told The Washington Post. “When you look at the rule, he didn’t do anything illegal. People can say it’s a cheap shot and you can talk about whether it might fall under unsportsmanlike conduct. But when you know the rule and you look at the play, he didn’t hit him in the head. He didn’t hit him in the neck. We looked at it. I looked at it very closely. He’s not going to be fined for that.”
Baker is still likely to be fined for fighting on the field, and being ejected and flagged for the hit on Foles. NFL rules state that a quarterback is considered a defenseless player after an interception and cannot be hit in the head or neck area by a defensive player. The league determined that Baker did not hit Foles in that area on the blindside hit.
