Washington not only lost 45-14 on Thursday night to the New York Giants, it also watched as a pair of key players went down with injuries. Tight end Niles Paul and left tackle Trent Williams were forced to leave the game with a concussion and knee strain respectively. Neither one returned.
Niles Paul, Trent Williams injured in Washington loss
Already dealing with a multitude of injuries, Washington added a couple more to the list on Thursday.

Paul’s injury was especially scary. Coming into the game as Washington’s leading receiver, Paul caught a pass down the deep seam of the field before being crushed by safety Quintin Demps. Paul lost control of the ball on impact and stayed down for several moments with his arms stiffly up in the air. The good news is Paul was able to walk off the field, albeit slowly with trainers at his side.
Williams limped off the field in the second half and remained on the sideline for the rest of the game while trainers looked at his knee. Losing Williams for any amount of time would be a huge loss to an offense already without Robert Griffin and Jordan Reed. Williams is a Pro Bowl starter who is easily the best lineman on the team.
Washington also had defensive lineman Jarvis Jenkins sustain bruised ribs during last night's debacle. It is unclear what the timetable for return is for all three. For Paul, he will have to undergo the league's standard protocol and will not be able to participate in practice or games until he passes a battery of tests showing he no longer has concussion symptoms.
