Michael Crabtree returns for 49ers after suffering foot injury
After being ruled questionable to return to Sunday’s game against the Eagles with a foot injury, Michael Crabtree returned to the field for the 49ers.
Michael Crabtree was forced to leave Sunday's game between the San Francisco 49ers and the Philadelphia Eagles in the first quarter with what appears to be a left foot injury. His return is questionable.
Crabtree was spotted on the sideline working with trainers and rolling a ball beneath his foot, suggesting that he may be dealing with a plantar fascia issue, according to Fox Sports’ Mike Garafolo.
Crabtree left the game after recording just one catch for two yards. If he is forced to sit out the rest of the game, the 49ers have several options to pick up the slack. Brandon Lloyd already has a big play for 23 yards. Anquan Boldin’s big body should be able to handle Crabtree’s workload. Ditto Vernon Davis.
That said, no one has been as productive in the passing game for the 49ers as Crabtree this season. Entering Sunday’s game he led the team 24 catches for 187 yards and two touchdowns. He has become a favorite security blanket for Colin Kaepernick, who has struggled to start the season.
