A tumultuous year for Morris Claiborne is over after the Dallas Cowboys cornerback suffered a torn patellar tendon in the team's Sunday Night Football victory over the New Orleans Saints, according to Cowboys Vice President Stephen Jones.
Morris Claiborne out for season with torn patellar tendon
Claiborne suffered a season-ending knee injury against the New Orleans Saints on Sunday Night Football.

Claiborne, 24, was injured on the fourth play of the game while covering a New Orleans receiver and was helped to the locker room. He did not return to the game and was replaced by Sterling Moore as the team's nickel cornerback.
Since being selected with the sixth overall selection in the 2012 NFL Draft, Claiborne has struggled to make an impact in the Dallas secondary and was demoted from his starting role after Week 3. Upon hearing the news of his demotion, which was coupled with some subtle criticism from Cowboys owner Jerry Jones, Claiborne did not attend practice with the team.
With Claiborne out of the lineup, the Cowboys are expected to continue to rely on Orlando Scandrick and Brandon Carr as the starting duo at cornerback with Moore playing in the team's nickel defense.
Claiborne had five tackles and one interception through four games this season.
