The wait is over. We’ve arrived. All hail the coming of the 2014 NFL season, which starts out with a bang on NBC in primetime with an NFC cross-division contest.

The Green Bay Packers may have won the NFC North in 2013, but they’ll have their hands full taking on the Super Bowl champion Seattle Seahawks. Seattle has dominated at times during the preseason (going without punting against the Bears) and looks like a 2014 version of the 2013 squad that pillaged its way to a world title. Quarterback Russell WIlson and the Seahawks’ terrifying defense (including the best secondary in the league) will continue to terrify. Be afraid, NFL. Be afraid.

Green Bay will be playing without nose tackle B.J. Raji and center JC Tretter, but they have a now-healthy Aaron Rodgers and he's still Aaron Rodgers. Also returning will be receiver Randall Cobb, looking to come back from a broken leg that sidelined him for much of 2013 (though he was instrumental in getting the Packers to the playoffs).

The Packers look good. The Seahawks look great. Between the two, you may be looking at the class of the NFC.

How to watch

Location: CenturyLink Field, Seattle, Wash.

TV: NBC

Time: 8:30 p.m. ET

Radio: Green Bay - Packers Radio Network, Seattle - Seahawks Radio Network

Watch Online: Sunday Night Football is available on NBCSports.com. Verizon subscribers can watch games live with the NFL Mobile app (subscription required). NFL Game Pass offers live online broadcasts to users outside the USA.

More on the matchup:

With Raji out for the season, Josh Boyd will be expected to step up. In addition, Green Bay could be starting six players picked in the 2013 Draft once Tretter gets healthy. The Packers defense finished third in yards allowed and fifth in points allowed in 2013. The Seahawks? First and second, respectively. By the way, the Seahawks look to be emphasizing the run this year, continuing to ride with Marshawn Lynch but adding in third-year back Robert Turbin. This is the first time Green Bay has been back to CenturyLink since the “Fail Mary.“
