Jim Kelly is cancer-free, thankful for support

The Buffalo Bills legend was declared cancer-free after a long road of aggressive treatment and chemotherapy.

Hall of Fame quarterback Jim Kelly was given the results he hoped to hear on Thursday: that he is cancer-free.

The Buffalo Bills legend underwent aggressive treatment for cancer in his jaw earlier this spring, and the early results showed that the chemotherapy had worked. However, further biopsy results were necessary to confirm, and it's now official that Kelly is cancer-free.

Kelly gave a brief statement through the Bills organization declaring he is free of cancer and thanking the fans as well as God, his friends, and family for their support.

“This is some of the greatest news I’ve ever gotten,” said Kelly. “It’s been a long road, and I’m still not back to one hundred percent, but I have a lot to be thankful for.

“I am so thankful for the support and prayers of my family, my friends near and far, and everyone in Western New York and throughout the country through my illness. I also want to thank the medical specialists who have done such amazing work,” Kelly continued. “Most of all, I want to thank God. Without my faith and God’s constant presence, there would be no such thing as ‘Kelly Tough’.”
