Colt Lyerla arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence of intoxicants

Lyerla has been in trouble before and finds himself in more after another arrest.

Benny Sieu-USA TODAY Sports

Former Green Bay Packers and Oregon Ducks tight end Colt Lyerla was arrested early Saturday morning in Oregon's Washington County on suspicion of driving under the influence of intoxicants, according to Molly Harbarger of the Oregonian.

Lyerla has been in trouble with the law before, having been arrested in 2013 for cocaine possession in Eugene, Ore. While the arrest report is not available, police have stated that Lyerla was suspected to be either high on drugs or prescription medications when he was pulled over in a traffic stop.

Mike Piellucci of SB Nation reported last week that the former Oregon star claims he went to the school because his family was promised a house and car among other things by an unnamed booster.

The Packers were Lyerla’s most recent stop, but he did not make the final 53-man roster this season partially due to an injured left knee. He reached an injury settlement with the team, which will pay him through the first eight weeks and allow him to return to the NFL this season should the opportunity arise, ESPN reports.

Lyerla’s court date is Sept. 17.
