Kansas City Chiefs running back Jamaal Charles is one of the most prolific offensive weapons in the game when healthy. On Sunday against the Tennessee Titans in the season opener, Charles was plenty healthy, but he didn't get many opportunities to show off his skills. Charles got just 11 touches in the game, which the Chiefs lost.
Jamaal Charles gets 11 touches, Andy Reid admits to ‘negligence’
Jamaal Charles didn’t get the football enough on Sunday. Andy Reid admits this. We break down the fantasy implications.

On Monday, head coach Andy Reid acknowledged that the touches were too low. He said that not giving Charles “the ball more than seven times is negligence on my part,” according to Terez A. Paylor of The Kansas City Star. Charles had seven carries which he only turned into 19 rushing yards with no touchdowns, and he caught four passes for 15 yards. Quarterback Alex Smith threw three interceptions, which is another reason why it’s puzzling Charles didn’t get more carries.
Fantasy Impact: A 2.7 yards-per-carry average isn’t inspiring by any means, but players of Charles’ caliber typically find a way to break something big with enough chances. This was a misstep by Reid, even if there was no guarantee that Charles would have been able to turn things around. The fact that he’s coming out and saying as much is a good sign for fantasy owners, however. They can expect Charles to get plenty of opportunities in Week 2.
