Jets running back Chris Johnson was arrested on a misdemeanor weapons charge on Friday night.

Johnson was pulled over after not coming to a complete stop at a stop sign, and after he consented to a search of his car by police, police found a licensed and registered firearm under a bag under a seat. It’s considered open carrying because it was not locked up, which is why he’s been charged at this point.
There’s not a whole lot of other info about the incident or charge at this point, and the team hasn’t made much of a comment beyond stating that they are aware of said incident.
Johnson carried the ball 155 times for 663 yards and just one rushing touchdown with the Jets this year. It’s his first year with the team after signing a two-year contract this past offseason, and it wound up being his least-productive year by far. He did average 4.3 yards per carry which was solid, but the Jets split carries so his totals were all down. Some think he could wind up being a cap casualty this offseason.
