The Seattle Seahawks are one win away from making the Super Bowl again, thanks largely to the most physical and hard-hitting secondary in the NFL. Richard Sherman may be the most well-known member of the Legion of Boom, but he thinks safety Kam Chancellor is the hardest hitter, saying Chancellor "damages people's souls," per the LA Times.

He also damages their bodies.
However, it's not just Chancellor's devastating hits that do so, but his game-changing plays as well. Chancellor made the game-sealing play Saturday in the Divisional round when he intercepted Panthers quarterback Cam Newton before returning it 90 yards for the score. That gave Seattle a 31-10 lead with 5:55 left in the game, and effectively ended any hope that Carolina would rally in Seattle.
Fear, loathing and Kam
Newton, nicknamed Superman, looked like anything but against Chancellor and the rest of the Seattle secondary. The Seahawks picked him off twice and forced him to fumble in the 31-17 win.
“They call me Batman,” said Chancellor, per the team website. “So he can have the Superman. I’m the Dark Knight.”
The 6'3 and 230-pound Chancellor displayed his freakish athleticism when he leaped over the Panthers' offensive line twice to attempt to block a field goal. Plays like that are why Sherman regards him as the unsung hero of the Seahawks' top-ranked defense:
“Kam doesn’t get the respect he deserves,” Sherman said. “Any time you say another strong safety is playing better than him, then you’re not watching tape. Who else is playing better? Show me the tape. Show me the playoff tape. Show me in a big game that somebody else played at a higher level, and I’d appreciate it.
“He’s a ridiculous athlete. You should see some of the stuff he does in practice. I’m glad I’m on his team.”
Between Chancellor, Sherman and the rest of the Seahawks’ secondary, they have shut down opposing offenses, especially in the postseason. They’re allowing a mere 14.3 points per game over their last four playoff games that date back to last year’s Super Bowl run.
Chancellor is a key reason why. He’s recorded an interception in three straight playoff games while totaling 55 tackles in eight career postseason games.
