The NFL's national nightmare is over, as the Baltimore Ravens and Dallas Cowboys coaching staffs have agreed to lead the teams for this year's Pro Bowl. Rejoice, for the day is saved!
Ravens save Pro Bowl, agree to ‘coach’ one of the teams
The Pro Bowl is saved!
Ravens coach John Harbaugh confirmed on Tuesday that he and his coaches will work one of the sidelines at the Pro Bowl next week. Jason Garrett and the Cowboys were confirmed soon thereafter, per a league press release. “Work” might be a strong word for what the teams will be doing, but they will definitely be there and they will probably call the plays -- well, at least some of the plays.
The NFL found itself in a bit of a bind this year because of the uncertainty with the Dallas Cowboys and Denver Broncos' coaching staffs. Both Dallas and Denver had been without head coaches, as Jason Garrett had not yet signed his new extension, while the Broncos and John Fox decided to part ways on Monday.
The reason this impacts the Pro Bowl is because Dallas and Denver were the teams with the best records that were eliminated in the Divisional Round. Because of this disappointment accomplishment, they earned the right to head to Hawaii Arizona, to act as the warm-up act to the Super Bowl. But without coaches, the NFL had no one to coach the Pro Bowl this year.
Not that you’ll watch it anyway (Jan. 25, 6 p.m. ET).
