Todd Bowles is wasting no time filling his coaching staff with the New York Jets. The new head coach is expected to hire Miami Dolphins defensive line coach Kacy Rodgers as the team's defensive coordinator, according to Ian Rapoport of NFL Network.
Kacy Rodgers expected to join Jets as defensive coordinator
Kacy Rodgers coached with Todd Bowles for four seasons with the Miami Dolphins from 2008-2011.

Rodgers, 45, coached defensive linemen for the Dallas Cowboys for five seasons from 2003-2007 before he was hired as the Dolphins' defensive line coach in 2008. Bowles also joined the Dolphins in 2008 and was the team's secondary coach for four seasons, including a three-game stretch as the interim head coach in 2011 after Tony Sparano was fired.
There were previous reports that Arizona Cardinals linebackers coach Mike Caldwell was expected to follow Bowles to New York to become the Jets' defensive coordinator. According to Rapoport, Caldwell will join the coaching staff, but not as defensive coordinator.
Rodgers played linebacker and defensive end for the Tennessee Volunteers and had a brief stint with the Pittsburgh Steelers in 1992, followed by some time in the Canadian Football League in 1994.
The Jets finished the 2014 season with the sixth-fewest yards allowed, but the ninth-most points given up. The team finished with 45 sacks, the sixth-highest total in the NFL.
