On Friday morning, NBC announced that Idina Menzel will be singing "The Star Spangled Banner" leading up to Super Bowl XLIX, per its official Twitter account. John Legend is also slated to sing "America The Beautiful" before the contest.

Menzel, 43, is a native New Yorker known for her role in the Broadway musical Rent, a part she earned a Tony award nomination for in 1996. Menzel later won a Tony Award in 2004 for her performance in the world-renowned Broadway musical Wicked. Many of the younger fans watching the Super Bowl will be familiar with Menzel because of her character on the FOX hit Glee and as the singer of the hit song “Let It Go” from the Disney movie Frozen.

Legend has been a major name in music for years, most recently churning a hit entitled “All of Me”, which rose into the top spot of the Billboard Hot 100. The 36-year-old Ohio native is well-known for his piano-playing ability and smooth voice, making him a natural selection for “America The Beautiful”.

The Super Bowl will be played on Feb. 1 at Glendale, Ariz. in University of Phoenix Stadium.
