New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady earned his record-setting sixth Super Bowl appearance with a win over the Indianapolis Colts in the AFC Championship Sunday. With the win, Brady broke his tie with former Denver Broncos great John Elway as the only quarterbacks to have been in five Super Bowls.

After defeating the Colts, Brady has moved into a class by himself with another trip to the Super Bowl.

Brady won the Super Bowl his first year as an NFL starter, beating the heavily favored St. Louis Rams in 2001. After missing the playoffs in 2002, Brady won consecutive Super Bowls in 2003 and 2004, toppling the Carolina Panthers and Philadelphia Eagles, respectively.
Since then, Brady made it back in 2007 and 2011, but lost both times to Eli Manning and the New York Giants. In 14 years as a starter, Brady has reached the conference title game nine times, the most of any quarterback. Brady has only missed the playoffs twice, back in 2002 and in 2008, when he tore his ACL in Week 1.
This time around, Brady faces Russell Wilson and the Seattle Seahawks. Should Brady beat the Seahawks in Super Bowl XLIX, he will join Joe Montana and Terry Bradshaw as the only other quarterbacks to have won four titles in the Super Bowl era.
