Adam Vinatieri will forever be known for his postseason heroics with the New England Patriots and Indianapolis Colts. The kicker added another chapter to his legacy by breaking Jerry Rice's mark for career postseason games with 30 by playing in the AFC Championship Sunday. Tom Brady is third on the list with 28.

The Colts’ kicker added another notch to his resumé Sunday against his former team.


Vinatieri, who spent 10 years with New England before joining Indianapolis for the past nine, has four Super Bowls to his credit. In Super Bowls XXXVI and XXXVIII, Vinatieri hit game-winners as time expired to beat the St. Louis Rams and Carolina Panthers, respectively. In 2006, Vinatieri aided Peyton Manning's only Super Bowl run, helping to lift Indianapolis to a championship by successfully converting on 14 of 15 attempts in the postseason.
In his regular season career, Vinatieri has hit 83.7 percent of his field goal attempts, including 30 of 31 this season. In the postseason, Vinatieri has connected on 56 of 67 attempts, giving him a percentage of 83.6. Vinatieri is 5 of 6 on kicks of 50 or more yards in the playoffs. He has also never missed from under 30 yards on 20 attempts.
