The Seattle Seahawks' mighty defense is on the ropes early against the Green Bay Packers, and it might have to face Aaron Rodgers for the rest of the game without one of its best players in the secondary. Pro Bowl safety Earl Thomas is questionable to return with a shoulder injury, according to the team.
Earl Thomas back from shoulder injury
The Seahawks safety has returned after being reported as questionable earlier.
UPDATE: Thomas returned to the game late in the second quarter.
Thomas appeared to injure his shoulder while attempting a tackle in the second quarter, immediately going to the sideline after the hit. He winced in pain as trainers had him lift his arms and walked back into the locker room shortly thereafter.
With the offense coughing the ball over left and right, the Seahawks’ defense has had to play on its side of the field the entire game. They’ve stood up so far, letting the Packers into the end zone just once, but could be in trouble without Thomas holding down the back end.
Backup safety Jeron Johnson is inactive with an elbow injury, leaving DeShawn Shead as Thomas' replacement.
