Richard Sherman sprains elbow, plans to play in Super Bowl

The Seahawks corner clearly favored his left elbow in Sunday, but he plans to play in the Super Bowl regardless.

Seattle Seahawks cornerback Richard Sherman sustained a left elbow injury Sunday against the Green Bay Packers. Sherman was clearly favoring his elbow for much of the game, but he played through the pain. The good news for the Seahawks is that Sherman had X-rays on the injured arm and they came back negative, according to NFL.com.

Sherman also said that he plans on playing in the Super Bowl. Even if the X-rays had revealed something semi-serious, it stands to reason that Sherman would be on the field. Sherman playing below 100 percent isn't ideal for Seattle, but he'd still be better than most corners in the league.

Whatever the case, Sherman will have some time to rest. Super Bowl XLIX isn't for two weeks, so Sherman can give the injured elbow time to recover. Sherman put the Seahawks in a good position early against the Packers, intercepting an Aaron Rodgers pass on the first drive of the game in Seattle territory. The Seahawks would go on to turn it right back over on the ensuing drive, but injury or not, Sherman had a solid game.

Update: According to Albert Breer, Sherman underwent an MRI Monday that showed he suffered a sprained elbow, but he should still be able to play in the Super Bowl.
