Super Bowl halftime show 2015: Katy Perry, Lenny Kravitz headline

But enough about boring things like actual football games. This is the Super Bowl, which means there will be about as much attention directed at the commercials, events surrounding the game like Media Day and, of course, the halftime show.

This year, the show will feature pop sensation Katy Perry, with Lenny Kravitz as a special guest. Each year, there’s always one big headliner and a special guest. The performers billed aren’t generally the only ones who show up, with other musicians frequently making appearances partway through the performance.

It’s anybody’s guess as to who will wind up with Perry on stage, as she’s done a ton of collaboration work over the years.

Last year’s halftime show was the most-watched ever, with over 115 million viewers. Of course, more and more people are watching the Super Bowl every year, so it’s not surprising that the record continues to get broken annually. That halftime show featured Bruno Mars and Red Hot Chili Peppers, but it wasn’t the most well-received performance.

Perry has a legion of fans and is known for strong live performances. Many believe Prince owns the best ever halftime performance from 2007, and that’s the bar with which every one of them will be measured from here on out. More recently, Beyonce performed at Super Bowl 47 to high marks. She even came in second in these rankings following last year’s performance.

Whatever happens, it should be entertaining at the very least. The Super Bowl is set for Sunday, Feb. 1, at the University of Phoenix Stadium in Glendale, Ariz. Idina Menzel will be singing the national anthem for the game and John Legend will be performing “America the Beautiful.”
