Landry Jones will be making his first career start Sunday when the Pittsburgh Steelers take on the Kansas City Chiefs, per ESPN's Ed Werder. Jones' backup will be part-time wide receiver Tyler Murphy, who was promoted from the practice squad Saturday. Ben Roethlisberger was ruled inactive late Sunday morning and Michael Vick will be sidelined with a hamstring injury as well.
Landry Jones will start for the Steelers in Week 7
The former Oklahoma Sooners quarterback has never started before in the NFL.

Thanks to a running game anchored by Le'Veon Bell and DeAngelo Williams and an offensive game plan that was designed to limit Vick's mistakes, the Steelers are 4-2 despite losing Roethlisberger in Week 3 against the St. Louis Rams to a knee injury. Vick only threw one interception in his 66 pass attempts, but his average completion was just 9.3 yards, as opposed to 13.6 for Roethlisberger.
Vick also provided a threat with his legs, something that neither Roethlisberger or Jones brings to the offense, but he had been rendered ineffective by the Arizona defense before getting hurt last weekend. Jones, making his NFL debut in his third season, went 8 for 12 for 168 yards and two touchdowns as the Steelers rallied to win 25-13.
Reid said that he expected Roethlisberger to play, but not knowing which quarterback to prepare for had to have given he and defensive coordinator James Bettcher nightmares. Roethlisberger is the most complete quarterback, while Vick uses a dink-and-nibble approach but adds to it with his speed, and Jones has the huge throwing arm.
