Tom Brady carries Patriots to a 30-23 win over No. 1 Jets defense

Tom Brady was responsible for all but one yard tallied by the Patriots in a 30-23 win over the Jets.

The New England Patriots managed 30 points and more than 350 yards of offense against the No. 1 defense in the NFL of the New York Jets and Tom Brady was responsible for all but one of those yards.

Brady entered the game with at least two touchdown passes in each of the first five games of the season and 14 total, but didn't throw a touchdown pass on Sunday until the fourth quarter, although he had a rushing touchdown in the first half. With the Patriots trailing the Jets 20-16, Brady found Danny Amendola for a go-ahead score with 7:16 remaining and later hit Rob Gronkowski for a 15-yard touchdown with 1:13 left that proved too much to overcome, although the Jets certainly came close.

While he tallied 355 yards through the air on 54 pass attempts, the Patriots rushing offense did absolutely nothing to help. The quarterback led the team with 15 rushing yards, while James White and LeGarrette Blount combined for one yard on five carries.

But all of Brady's passing yards didn't translate to many points on the field until the fourth quarter. Instead it was the Patriots defense that managed to do just enough to keep the Jets from getting away, holding Chris Ivory to just 41 yards on 17 carries after the Jets running back racked up 312 yards in the two weeks prior.

It's also tough to fault Brady much for the lack of points in the first three quarter as the Patriots recorded 12 drops of Brady passes, including a dropped touchdown by Julian Edelman in the first half. Brandon LaFell returned after missing the first six weeks of the season due to a foot injury that put him on the physically unable to perform list, but led the Patriots with six drops. Entering Week 7, Edelman was tied with Keenan Allen for the most drops in the NFL with five each, according to Pro Football Focus, a mark that LaFell managed to exceed in one game.

Brady was harassed all day by the talented Jets front led by Sheldon Richardson, who finished with a sack and a forced fumble before leaving with an injury in the fourth quarter. Despite Brady's tremendous start to the 2015 season, getting hit has been a consistent theme for the Patriots quarterback and the Jets upped the season sack total of Brady to 16.

The 30 points scored by the Patriots is the most the Jets have allowed all season and no team in the first five games managed more than 250 passing yards. Brady's ridiculous 2015 season will now roll on to a matchup against the Miami Dolphins in Week 8 with a 6-0 record, 16 touchdowns and just one interception.
