Philadelphia Eagles left tackle Jason Peters left Sunday night's game against the Carolina Panthers in the first quarter with a lower back injury. The Eagles later announced that Peters was suffering back spasms and ruled him out for the game.
Jason Peters ruled out with back spasms against Panthers
The Eagles lost one of the most important pieces of their offense in the first quarter of Sunday night’s game.

Peters’ injury did not appear to be due to contact. Peters had to be carted off the field after laying on the ground in apparent pain for several minutes. The Eagles announced that Peters would undergo X-rays.
Peters is arguably Philadelphia’s best player. He is a seven-time Pro Bowler and two-time first-team All-Pro. He has also had injury problems in the past. PEters has ruptured his Achilles tendon twice, the last time in 2012, forcing him to miss the entire year.
The Eagles’ offense could struggle with Peters off the field. They have only relinquished eight sacks this season, good for fifth-best in the NFL, but they’re facing a defense that has racked up 13 this season. The Eagles’ rushing game has struggled in most of its outings, and is ranked 19th in the NFL at 104 yards per game entering Week 7.
The Eagles list Peters' backup as Matt Tobin, a third-year former undrafted rookie out of Iowa. Tobin was moved from right guard to left tackle. The Eagles' offensive line is also without offensive guard Andrew Gardner due to a Lisfranc injury.
