Seattle Seahawks running back Marshawn Lynch has been declared out for Monday night's game against the Detroit Lions. Lynch was officially listed as questionable on the injury report on Saturday, but he was downgraded to out on Sunday. Lynch was originally expected to be a game-time decision with the hamstring injury.
Marshawn Lynch ruled out for Monday’s game against Lions
Seattle will be without its starting running back against the Lions due to a hamstring injury.
Lynch sustained the injury early in Week 3 against the Chicago Bears, and he was not a full participant in any practice this week. Hamstring injuries are notorious for defying initial expectations in both good and bad ways, and they come with one of the highest chances of re-injury when players don't allow them to heal 100 percent.
Thomas Rawls, a rookie out of Central Michigan, saw a heavy workload against the Bears when Lynch went down and he finished that game with 16 carries for 104 yards. Fred Jackson was originally signed as Lynch's backup, and he'll likely be in on passing downs due to his strength in blitz pickup, but Rawls will likely get plenty of playing time in Lynch's absence.
Lynch has just 38 carries for 128 yards this season, a per-carry average of 3.4 yards through three games of play.
