The Seattle Seahawks' offensive line is not great. That much is obvious to essentially anyone who watches them play. It puts a lot on Russell Wilson's shoulders to take matters into his own hands and avoid defenders just to have opportunities to make plays.
Russell Wilson burns Lions’ defensive line multiple times on improbable completion
It’s a talent Wilson has in spades and a move he routinely makes. Because of that, it takes a really spectacular play to even qualify as one of Wilson’s better scrambles. This qualified.
That should have been a sack and a loss of at least 20 yards. Then it should have been a sack for a loss of about 15 yards. It had no business being anything but a negative play for Seattle. Except it wasn't. Not only was it not a loss, Wilson hit Jermaine Kearse for a 34-yard gain.
A play that should have ended a drive and forced a punt instead turned into an explosive game-changer. All because Wilson served as his own offensive line and blocked two Lions right out of the play. Seattle scored one play later when Wilson hit Doug Baldwin on another big play.
